Product Description

Linex contains linezolid, a synthetic antibiotic from the oxazolidinone class. It is used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, and infections resistant to other antibiotics such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus).

• Effective against multi-drug resistant Gram-positive infections.

• Treats complicated infections such as hospital-acquired pneumonia and resistant skin infections.

• Well absorbed orally, allowing for outpatient treatment of serious infections.

Dosage

Typical adult dose is 600 mg every 12 hours for 10 to 14 days, depending on the infection type and severity.

Precautions

• Do not use if you are allergic to linezolid or any of its components.

• Use with caution in patients taking serotonergic drugs (e.g., SSRIs, MAOIs) due to risk of serotonin syndrome.

• Monitor blood counts with prolonged use; may cause myelosuppression.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly needed.
